About the Opportunity
Woolworths is offering an exciting opportunity for a CRG Seasonal Sales Assistant within the Country Road Group. This seasonal contract position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about fashion, retail and customer service and enjoy working in a busy, customer-focused environment.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting store operations and helping achieve sales targets during the seasonal period. You will interact directly with customers, understand their needs, provide product recommendations and use your knowledge of fashion trends to help customers make confident purchasing decisions.
The position is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, with opportunities across Gateway, Westville and Midlands. Candidates must be flexible enough to work across multiple store locations when required.
Role Purpose
As a Seasonal Sales Assistant, your main responsibility will be to deliver an excellent customer experience while contributing towards the achievement of store sales targets.
You will be expected to actively engage with customers on the sales floor, identify opportunities to maximise sales and provide accurate product information. You will also help maintain the professional appearance of the store and ensure Woolworths and Country Road Group standards are consistently followed.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric, or currently completing Grade 12.
- An equivalent NQF qualification may also be considered.
- Relevant retail sales experience is advantageous.
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Knowledge of current fashion trends.
- Ability to advise customers based on their needs and fashion preferences.
- Technological proficiency and confidence using retail systems and tools.
- Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to remain visible, approachable and helpful on the sales floor.
- Flexible availability to work different shifts.
- Willingness and ability to work across multiple store locations when required.
- Commitment to Woolworths and Country Road Group policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain presentation and hygiene standards in line with Visual Merchandising guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an exceptional shopping experience by:
- Greeting and engaging customers on the sales floor.
- Understanding customer needs and providing appropriate assistance.
- Offering relevant product information and recommendations.
- Helping customers make informed purchasing decisions.
- Remaining approachable and visible throughout the sales floor.
Sales and Target Achievement
You will contribute directly to store performance by:
- Working towards and achieving in-store sales targets.
- Using effective selling techniques.
- Identifying and maximising sales opportunities.
- Applying product and fashion knowledge to support customer decisions.
- Staying informed about products, features, benefits and care instructions.
Product Knowledge
The role requires a good understanding of the products being sold. You should be able to explain:
- Product features and benefits.
- Appropriate product care instructions.
- Relevant fashion trends.
- Information that can help customers choose products confidently.
Store Standards and Operations
The Seasonal Sales Assistant will also be expected to:
- Follow Woolworths and Country Road Group policies and procedures.
- Maintain store presentation standards.
- Follow Visual Merchandising guidelines.
- Maintain high hygiene standards.
- Handle products and store resources carefully.
- Help minimise wastage and unnecessary costs.
- Support a clean, professional and welcoming retail environment.
Flexibility and Availability
Because this is a seasonal retail contract, flexibility is an important part of the role. Successful candidates must be available to work various shifts, which may include different trading hours depending on store requirements.
Candidates must also be capable of working across Gateway, Westville and Midlands stores when required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is energetic, customer-focused and passionate about fashion. You should enjoy interacting with people, be comfortable working towards sales targets and have the confidence to approach customers and offer assistance.
Previous retail experience is advantageous but the role also places strong emphasis on customer service, communication, flexibility, product knowledge and willingness to learn.
You should be reliable, professional and committed to maintaining the high presentation and service standards expected by Woolworths and Country Road Group.
