Are you looking for a part-time retail opportunity in Pietermaritzburg? Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Casual Merchandiser to join its Midlands store.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers, has an interest in retail and is able to work flexible retail hours.
📌 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
✅ Grade 12 / Matric
✅ Up to 6 months’ retail experience
✅ Computer literate, including MS Office
✅ Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
⭐ At least 1 year of retail experience
⭐ Bilingual communication skills
⭐ Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry
🛒 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Casual Merchandiser, you will help ensure that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are maintained while providing excellent customer service.
Your duties will include:
• Restocking merchandise to ensure maximum sales.
• Ensuring delivered stock and stock pulled from the storeroom is packed in the correct areas timeously.
• Checking that products have not reached their sell-by dates.
• Ensuring the full product range is available and properly displayed on shelves.
• Rotating stock according to FIFO principles.
• Reporting low stock levels, damaged stock, expired stock and out-of-stock items to management.
• Assisting with stock counts and general stocktaking.
• Maintaining store layouts and planograms according to Dis-Chem standards.
• Keeping shelves neat, well-presented and correctly labelled and priced.
• Reporting price discrepancies to management.
• Building, facing up, stocking and maintaining merchandising displays.
• Assisting with loading and off-loading stock.
• Keeping the storeroom and shop floor neat and organised.
• Assisting customers with product and stock queries.
• Providing friendly, helpful and professional customer service.
• Assisting with back shopping and other general store duties.
• Wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
• Handling merchandise carefully to minimise losses.
• Following all Dis-Chem policies, procedures, health and safety rules and regulations.
