ABOUT THE POSITION
Parts Incorporated Africa is looking for a reliable and responsible X7 Driver: Light Duty to join its operations team in Gqeberha.
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of goods to and from customers while ensuring that all company procedures and operational requirements are followed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting parcels and goods according to designated routes and schedules, maintaining accurate delivery documentation and ensuring that customers follow the required Proof of Delivery (POD) procedures.
This position requires a driver who is trustworthy, safety-conscious, organised and able to work effectively under pressure.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- At least 3 years’ delivery driving experience.
- Valid driver’s licence with PDP – essential.
- Good time-management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Honest and demonstrates strong integrity.
- Must maintain sober habits.
- Clear criminal record.
- Ability to follow company policies and operational procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Inspecting the vehicle before departure and upon return.
- Completing the required vehicle inspection checklist accurately.
- Handing inspection lists to the Dispatch Supervisor every Monday for sign-off before receiving a new inspection list.
- Immediately reporting any vehicle errors or defects before the vehicle leaves the premises.
- Checking parcels with the supervisor before loading them into the vehicle.
- Following the New Dispatch Loading Procedure at all times.
- Delivering parcels safely to customers along the designated route according to the route schedule and trip sheet.
- Ensuring that customers adhere to the required Proof of Delivery (POD) procedure.
- Adhering to the RFC procedure.
- Delivering all documents and collection slips allocated to the relevant trip sheet.
- Ensuring that PODs are received for completed deliveries.
- Signing trip sheets in with the POD Clerk.
- Ensuring that all documents assigned to the driver are completed and returned the following day.
- Following up on outstanding trip sheets and taking responsibility for any claims relating to missing PODs.
- Ensuring that no stock transfers take place between customer shops.
- Maintaining and cleaning the allocated vehicle regularly.
- Reporting any vehicle problems immediately to the Dispatch Supervisor.
- Reporting any delivery problems or POD-related issues to the Dispatch Supervisor.
- Ensuring that goods are transported and delivered safely and efficiently.
