📌 ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Cleaner to join its Head Office team in Midrand, Gauteng.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, neat and hygienic working environment throughout the Head Office and communal areas. This position is suitable for an individual who is trustworthy, hardworking, detail-oriented and able to provide excellent service while working in a professional office environment.
The Cleaner will ensure that offices, meeting rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and other communal areas are maintained according to Dis-Chem’s required standards.
🎯 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Good spoken English.
- Ability to communicate professionally with staff and visitors.
- Customer service skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Trustworthy and honest.
- Ability to take instructions and follow through.
- Good time-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of an additional language.
- Previous cleaning experience will be beneficial.
🧽 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the Head Office and communal areas daily.
- Developing cleaning routines to ensure all areas remain neat and hygienic.
- Cleaning and stocking the canteen and restrooms with the necessary products.
- Remaining available during operational hours to attend to cleaning requirements.
- Checking refuse before disposal to ensure no products or valuable goods are accidentally discarded.
- Vacuuming carpeted meeting and training rooms daily according to standard operating procedures.
- Vacuuming other carpeted areas on a weekly basis.
- Dusting desks, chairs, telephones, shelves, photocopiers and other office equipment.
- Ensuring kitchens and bathrooms are properly cleaned and adequately stocked.
- Reporting low or out-of-stock cleaning supplies to the Team Leader.
- Following all applicable health and safety regulations.
- Ensuring cleaning equipment and utensils are stored safely when not in use.
- Displaying wet-floor signs clearly at both ends of an area when cleaning floors.
- Reporting faulty equipment and maintenance issues, including damaged doors, handles, locks, taps, cisterns, lights and switches.
- Assisting customers and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Guiding visitors to the correct floor or relevant staff members when required.
- Communicating clearly and respectfully with employees and guests.
- Resolving minor issues where possible or referring them to the Team Leader.
