Curro Douglasdale is looking to appoint a passionate and experienced English Home Language (HL) Teacher – Grade 7 on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will commence duties in January 2027.
The teacher will be responsible for delivering quality teaching, transferring knowledge, developing learner skills and encouraging positive attitudes through engaging and learner-centred teaching approaches.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Teaching and Lesson Planning
- Planning and delivering effective English HL lessons.
- Using modern teaching tools, processes and resources.
- Preparing learner workbooks and relevant learning materials.
- Monitoring learner academic progress and achievement.
- Identifying areas requiring additional support and implementing appropriate interventions.
Curriculum Planning
- Reviewing and implementing the relevant term plans.
- Monitoring learner progress throughout the term.
- Adjusting lesson plans according to the pace of the class and available teaching time.
- Ensuring teaching is aligned with the Curro curriculum and applicable curriculum requirements.
Classroom Management
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Designing and setting up the classroom to promote effective learning.
- Managing classroom discipline according to school policies.
- Communicating effectively with learners and parents.
- Encouraging positive learner behaviour and participation.
Assessments
- Planning and managing formal and continuous assessments.
- Preparing assessment schedules and rosters.
- Developing revision packs and learning resources.
- Conducting and supporting moderation processes.
- Monitoring learner performance and using assessment results to improve teaching.
Homework and Learner Support
- Planning and managing subject-related homework.
- Providing revision activities where necessary.
- Managing peer-marking activities.
- Supporting learners who require additional academic assistance.
Extramural Activities
- Planning and coordinating relevant extramural activities.
- Participating in school outings and educational activities.
- Supporting the holistic development of learners beyond the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have:
- BEd and/or PGCE in Intermediate Phase Teaching
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Intermediate Phase teacher
- Knowledge and understanding of the CAPS curriculum
- Proven facilitation skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Good report-writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational and planning abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours
- SACE registration
- Clear criminal record
