About the Position
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is inviting applications for a permanent Cleaner position based at the Inkosi Langalibalele Local Office in the uThukela District.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, safe, and presentable working environment within the department’s offices. The role involves cleaning office buildings and restrooms, providing basic kitchen services, and ensuring that cleaning materials and equipment are properly maintained and safely stored.
This is a Level 02 government opportunity and may be suitable for applicants who are looking to enter the public service and have the required basic education and literacy skills. Importantly, no previous work experience is required for this position.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out general cleaning and support duties, including:
Office Cleaning
- Cleaning and maintaining office buildings to an acceptable standard.
- Ensuring that offices and common areas remain clean, neat, and hygienic.
- Performing routine cleaning duties as assigned.
- Maintaining cleanliness throughout the working environment.
Restroom Cleaning
- Cleaning and maintaining restrooms.
- Ensuring restroom areas are hygienic and properly maintained.
- Using appropriate cleaning products and equipment safely.
- Reporting any issues relating to cleaning facilities or equipment.
Kitchen Services
- Rendering basic kitchen services as required.
- Keeping kitchen areas clean and orderly.
- Maintaining appropriate hygiene standards when performing kitchen-related duties.
Cleaning Equipment and Materials
- Keeping cleaning materials and equipment in good condition.
- Properly storing cleaning products and equipment.
- Using cleaning equipment appropriately and safely.
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment where necessary.
- Ensuring that cleaning materials are used responsibly.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirement:
- ABET Level 2.
- Basic education, literacy, and numeracy skills.
Experience
No previous experience is required.
This makes the opportunity particularly suitable for individuals who meet the educational requirement but have not yet gained formal work experience.
Knowledge Requirements
Candidates should have:
- Basic knowledge of operating cleaning equipment.
