Job Purpose
Clicks Group is looking for a qualified and experienced Nursing Practitioner to join its clinic team in Umlazi, Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering professional, safe, and quality healthcare services while ensuring that the clinic operates efficiently and in line with South African Nursing Council (SANC) regulations and Clicks Group standards.
This position combines clinical nursing, primary healthcare, patient education, clinic administration, stock management, and commercial responsibilities. The successful applicant will need to provide a broad range of healthcare services while maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring a safe and professional clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Nursing Practitioner will be responsible for:
- Managing a commercially viable clinic in accordance with company policies and guidelines.
- Providing lifestyle management and health screening tests.
- Conducting Well Baby clinics, including immunisations and monitoring baby health.
- Providing reproductive health services.
- Administering adult immunisations.
- Providing Primary Health Care services, including treatment of minor ailments and wound care.
- Providing phlebotomy services.
- Counselling patients and providing appropriate health information.
- Advising patients on areas such as weight management and general wellness.
- Referring patients to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals where necessary.
- Managing medical waste and maintaining a safe clinical environment.
- Responding appropriately to adverse events and emergencies.
- Preparing professional, stock, and financial management reports.
- Monitoring and ordering clinic stock and equipment.
- Preventing stock losses and shrinkage.
- Monitoring cold-chain requirements where applicable.
- Planning and implementing Health Days and other healthcare-related projects.
- Developing and maintaining networks with other health professionals.
- Ensuring patient information is securely and confidentially maintained.
- Managing clinic administration and reporting requirements.
- Ensuring payments for services are properly controlled and processed.
- Establishing and maintaining a locum network and arranging locum cover when required.
- Conducting self-audits and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ensuring that professional registration and indemnity requirements remain up to date.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Registration as a Professional Nurse.
- A 3-year Diploma in Nursing or a 4-year Degree in Nursing.
- At least 3 years’ practical nursing experience across a broad range of nursing disciplines.
- Experience in Community Health, Primary Health, and Midwifery will be particularly advantageous.
- Current SANC registration and professional indemnity must be maintained.
- Knowledge or experience with Unisolv and Allegra will be advantageous.
- Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, is required.
