Job Overview
PepsiCo is seeking an experienced Forklift Driver (Packing) to join its Supply Chain team in Klerksdorp, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a forklift to transport products and equipment within the facility, while also assisting with the picking, sorting, recording, stacking and preparation of products for loading and delivery.
This position is suited to someone with practical forklift-driving experience who understands the importance of stock accuracy, workplace safety, product quality and efficient warehouse operations. The successful applicant will work within a structured supply chain environment and will be expected to follow all relevant safety, food safety and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The Forklift Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of products and equipment throughout the facility. This includes operating the forklift according to company procedures and ensuring that all goods are handled carefully to prevent damage.
Daily responsibilities will include:
- Operating the forklift safely and efficiently within the facility.
- Transporting products, materials and equipment between designated areas.
- Conducting daily physical inspections of the forklift before operations.
- Reporting any defects, faults or safety concerns identified during inspections.
- Picking, sorting and preparing products for loading and delivery.
- Recording product quantities accurately.
- Checking product expiry dates as required.
- Ensuring stock is correctly positioned and stacked on pallets.
- Maintaining damage-free stock handling operations.
- Following approved pallet stacking procedures and standards.
- Adhering to forklift speed limits and designated operating procedures.
- Inspecting pallets before use and reporting damaged or unsuitable pallets.
- Keeping the forklift clean and in good working condition.
- Maintaining cleanliness and good housekeeping within the packing area.
- Assisting with cleaning duties in the packing area.
- Participating in monthly stock counts.
- Ensuring stock movements and quantities are accurately recorded.
- Following all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
- Complying with Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) standards and procedures.
- Handling products responsibly to protect quality and prevent unnecessary losses.
- Working with other warehouse and supply chain employees to ensure smooth daily operations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or a similar relevant qualification.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be considered where applicable based on relevant SETA accreditation.
- Valid Forklift Licence – essential.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety standards.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Ability to work safely and responsibly around stock, equipment and other employees.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when handling and recording products.
