Curro, one of South Africa’s leading independent schooling providers, is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Bursar to join Curro Westbrook in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the school’s day-to-day financial operations and supporting the Executive Head and Regional Accountant. This is a full-time position, with duties expected to commence in September 2026.

💰 KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial administration and management of the school.
Key duties include:
- Managing the day-to-day finances of the school under the direction of the Executive Head and Regional Accountant.
- Assisting with the preparation and management of school budgets.
- Monitoring all income and expenditure relating to internal budgets.
- Ensuring financial activities are accurately recorded and managed.
- Preparing financial reports for the Executive Head.
- Supporting the school with financial and administrative requirements.
- Assisting with school functions when required.
- Ensuring that financial processes are followed correctly and efficiently.
- Providing support with financial planning and reporting.
- Maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality when handling financial information.
🎓 QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have:
- At least a B Degree or equivalent three-year qualification.
- A major in Accounting will be preferable.
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience.
- Experience working in a financial role or previous experience as a Bursar.
- Experience in accounting and financial administration.
- Experience with cash-flow management.
- Experience managing debtors.
- Experience with the financial aspects of contract management.
- Experience in general administration.
- Experience with payroll management.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Strong planning and organisational abilities.
- Excellent administrative skills.
- A clear criminal record.
💻 SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate should be highly organised, detail-oriented and able to work accurately with financial information.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with management, staff and other stakeholders are important for this role.
The candidate should also be able to manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive financial and employee information.
