Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

The appointed Administrative Clerk will be responsible for providing effective administrative and clerical support within the Motor Transport Services component.

Key duties include:

  • Providing general administrative support services.
  • Providing supply chain clerical services within the component.
  • Providing personnel administration support.
  • Providing financial administration and clerical support.
  • Performing eNaTIS administration duties.
  • Maintaining accurate record-keeping systems.
  • Maintaining workflow registers and related documentation.
  • Capturing and managing information accurately.
  • Supporting the component with day-to-day administrative processes.
  • Ensuring documents and records are properly maintained and readily available when required.
  • Following established procedures and applicable government policies.
  • Protecting confidential information and maintaining professional standards.

The successful candidate will need to ensure that administrative work is completed accurately, efficiently and within the required timeframes.

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have:

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12, or
  • National Certificate (Vocational) NQF Level 4.

The position specifically requires candidates who meet the stated educational requirement.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

Candidates should have knowledge of general clerical duties and administrative practices, including the ability to capture data and collect statistics.

Knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service will be advantageous to the effective performance of the role.

Applicants should also have knowledge of working procedures relevant to the working environment and be comfortable using computers.

Computer literacy is required, particularly in:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft PowerPoint

Strong planning and organisational abilities are also important. The successful candidate should be able to manage administrative tasks systematically, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.

Good verbal and written communication skills are required, together with appropriate language and interpersonal skills. The candidate should also be flexible and able to work effectively with colleagues.
