Job Overview
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport is recruiting 70 Road Workers for its Ladysmith Region, based at the Cost Centre in Escourt. This is a permanent government opportunity for candidates interested in hands-on road maintenance and construction work.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates may be responsible for:
- Constructing culverts and side drains.
- Erecting and maintaining steel guardrails and gabions.
- Performing road earthworks and layer works.
- Cleaning and maintaining roads, sidewalks and resting areas.
- Carrying out road surfacing and pothole patching.
- Installing fencing and laying pipes.
- Setting road markings and road studs.
- Installing road signs, distance markers and barricades.
- Crushing road construction materials.
- Clearing brush and cutting grass.
- Following workplace safety procedures and instructions.
- Working effectively as part of a road maintenance team.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- NQF Level 1 or 2 qualification, such as an ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge relevant to road maintenance work.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to perform different duties.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Basic planning and organising abilities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to work with figures.
