Job Overview
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport is inviting applications for a permanent Cleaner position based at the Dundee Cost Centre within the Ladysmith Region.
The successful candidate will provide cleaning, housekeeping and refreshment-related services to ensure that the department’s offices and facilities remain clean, hygienic, organised and suitable for employees and visitors.
This is a Salary Level 2 government opportunity and may be well suited to someone with a Grade 9/AET Level 4 qualification who is reliable, responsible, honest and comfortable performing practical, routine cleaning duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of cleaning and general housekeeping duties, including:
- Preparing and serving tea and refreshments.
- Washing up after tea breaks.
- Vacuuming and sweeping offices.
- Emptying and cleaning appliances.
- Cleaning toilets and ablution facilities.
- Cleaning lecture room blocks.
- Cleaning windows and glass doors.
- Mopping floors.
- Wiping and dusting walls and other surfaces.
- Emptying rubbish bins.
- Polishing floors.
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment.
- Operating domestic appliances safely and correctly.
- Performing routine cleaning and housekeeping tasks as instructed.
- Ensuring cleaning duties are completed consistently and to the required standard.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have:
- AET Level 4 / Grade 9 qualification.
