About the Programme

Impala Platinum Limited is offering a 2026 Vacation Student Programme designed to give eligible tertiary students valuable workplace exposure during the December/January holiday period.

The programme provides students with an opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional working environment while developing an understanding of workplace expectations and processes. Where possible, students will be placed in areas that are relevant to their current field of study, allowing them to gain experience that complements their academic journey.

The programme is intended specifically for the children of Impala Platinum Refineries, Head Office and BIIS employees. The employee’s child must already be registered on the company’s SAP system.

Purpose of the Programme

The main purpose of the Vacation Student Programme is to provide students with relevant practical work exposure.

Successful students will have the opportunity to experience a professional workplace, learn from employees and gain practical knowledge that can complement their tertiary studies.

Placement will be aligned with the student’s studies where possible, helping participants gain exposure that is relevant to their chosen career path.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Must be a child of an Impala Platinum Refineries, Head Office or BIIS employee.
  • The child must be registered on SAP.
  • Must be a full-time student at a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Must have completed their first year of tertiary studies during 2026.
  • Must be studying at NQF Level 5 or higher.
  • Applicants will be required to undergo a medical examination.

Applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements will not be considered.

Work Exposure

Vacation students will be temporarily employed during the December/January holiday period.

Where possible, Impala Platinum will place students in work areas that are relevant to their academic studies. This gives participants the opportunity to connect what they have learned at university or college with practical workplace experience.

Students may gain exposure to:

  • Professional workplace procedures.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Organisational processes.
  • Administrative and operational activities.
  • Communication within a professional environment.
  • Practical activities related to their field of study, where placement allows.
  • Workplace expectations and professional conduct.

The specific duties and placement area will depend on the student’s field of study and available opportunities within the organisation.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a completed Vacation Work Application Form together with the required supporting documentation.

Applications must include:

  • A short CV.
  • A certified copy of the applicant’s ID.
  • Proof of studies, such as a statement of results.
  • Proof of banking details in the form of a letter from the bank with a bank stamp.
  • Proof of SARS registration number.

All required documents must be submitted correctly. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Important Information

Applicants who do not receive communication from the Human Resources Department within 30 days after the closing date may consider their application unsuccessful.
