As a Shop Assistant / Cashier, you will be one of the key points of contact between Clicks and its customers. You will therefore be expected to represent the brand professionally, communicate clearly, and ensure that every customer receives helpful and courteous service.
The role combines customer service, point-of-sale operations, merchandising, housekeeping, and general store support. It is suited to someone who is reliable, organised, comfortable handling money, and able to remain accurate while working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Shop Assistant / Cashier will be responsible for ensuring that all point-of-sale and customer service activities are completed efficiently and accurately.
Point-of-Sale Operations
- Process customer transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Scan merchandise correctly and collect payments for purchased goods.
- Handle cash responsibly and follow all procedures relating to cash management.
- Process Clicks ClubCard rewards and transactions correctly.
- Maintain accuracy when dealing with payments, merchandise, and customer information.
- Follow all point-of-sale procedures and instructions.
Customer Service
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional assistance.
- Act as a positive brand ambassador for Clicks.
- Respond to customer questions and assist with product-related enquiries.
- Ensure customers receive accurate information about products, promotions, and events.
- Help customers understand available promotions and savings opportunities.
- Proactively promote the Clicks ClubCard and encourage new customers to join.
- Build positive relationships with customers through professional and helpful interactions.
Merchandising and Store Standards
The successful candidate will also assist with maintaining the appearance and organisation of the store.
Responsibilities include:
- Completing merchandising activities according to store standards.
- Ensuring products are displayed correctly and attractively.
- Supporting stock management procedures.
- Keeping the store clean, organised, and presentable.
- Completing general housekeeping duties.
- Ensuring promotional displays and merchandise are maintained according to requirements.
- Keeping up to date with products, ranges, promotions, and events.
Knowledge and Skills

- Grade 12 Maths at 50% or higher.
- Grade 12 English at 50% or higher.
Previous retail experience is desirable but is not listed as an essential requirement. Candidates who demonstrate strong customer-service skills, reliability, communication abilities, and a willingness to learn may be well suited to the opportunity.
