The Roof Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety and functionality of roofs, gutters, downpipes and roof access areas. The role also supports preventative maintenance by removing debris, identifying defects and reporting maintenance or safety concerns to the relevant team.

🧹 ABOUT THE ROLE
The successful candidate will help maintain roofs and associated areas in a clean, safe and functional condition.
The position involves cleaning roof surfaces, gutters and downpipes, removing organic debris and assisting with routine inspections.
The employee will also be expected to identify and report issues such as leaks, damage, defects and safety hazards to the Engineering team.
Because the role involves working at heights, safety is extremely important. The successful candidate must be physically and medically fit and able to use ladders, roof-access equipment and personal protective equipment correctly.
🔧 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Cleaning roofs, gutters and downpipes.
- Cleaning rainwater management systems.
- Removing leaves, branches, fruit and other organic debris from roof surfaces.
- Cleaning and sanitising areas where required.
- Safely removing wildlife contamination where necessary.
- Assisting with routine roof inspections.
- Identifying maintenance concerns and reporting them to the relevant team.
- Reporting roof defects, damage and leaks.
- Reporting safety hazards immediately.
- Supporting roof repairs and waterproofing activities.
- Assisting with preventative maintenance tasks.
- Ensuring roof access points remain safe and accessible.
- Maintaining safe working areas.
- Using ladders and access equipment correctly.
- Wearing and correctly using required PPE.
- Following all working-at-height procedures.
- Complying with company health and safety policies.
- Maintaining good housekeeping in all assigned areas.
- Taking proper care of equipment and company assets.
🎓 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Physical fitness to perform labour-intensive duties.
- Medical fitness to work safely at heights.
- Ability to safely use ladders.
- Ability to use roof-access equipment.
- Willingness to follow safety procedures and company policies.
⭐ ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE
The following will be advantageous:
- Working-at-Heights certification or training.
- Previous roofing experience.
- Cleaning experience.
- Facilities management experience.
- General maintenance experience.
- Outdoor labour-intensive work experience.
- Experience in hospitality or resort environments.
- Experience working in commercial facilities.
Previous experience is advantageous, but applicants should carefully review the stated minimum requirements before applying.
