Job Overview
adidas is looking for a Permanent Part-Timer to join its retail team at Mall of Africa in Johannesburg.
The role focuses on providing excellent customer service while supporting the day-to-day operation and presentation of the store. The successful candidate will assist customers, process transactions, support stock movement, maintain merchandise displays, contribute to loss prevention and help ensure the store operates according to adidas standards and procedures.

Previous fashion retail experience is highly regarded, but it is not essential. Applicants need a Matric certificate and 0–1 years of retail experience.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
The Permanent Part-Timer will play an important role in creating an excellent adidas shopping experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Greeting customers when they enter the store.
- Helping customers find products that meet their needs.
- Providing product information and technical details.
- Using selling techniques such as add-on sales.
- Supporting store and individual sales targets.
- Providing a high standard of customer service.
- Acting as a front-door greeter during busy periods when required.
Employees are expected to communicate confidently and positively with customers while representing the adidas brand.
Sales and Point of Sale
The role involves supporting regular sales transactions and becoming proficient in the store’s POS system.
Duties include:
- Processing sales involving cash, credit and other accepted payment methods.
- Developing strong point-of-sale system skills.
- Following all relevant policies and procedures.
- Maintaining transaction accuracy and system integrity.
- Supporting sales goals through effective customer engagement.
- Using product knowledge to enhance the customer experience.
Stock and Product Flow
The successful candidate will assist with maintaining product availability across the store.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting product movement from the stockroom to the sales floor.
- Checking paperwork against products received.
- Assisting with product ticketing.
- Replenishing products when required.
- Helping ensure merchandise is available to customers.
Visual Merchandising
Team members will also contribute to the appearance and presentation of the store.
This includes:
- Assisting with merchandise displays.
- Following display schedules and instructions provided by management.
- Helping maintain attractive and organised product presentation.
- Supporting the overall visual standards of the store.
Store Maintenance
Maintaining a clean and organised store is an important part of the role.
Duties include:
- Maintaining general housekeeping standards.
- Assisting with cleaning the store.
- Keeping sales areas neat and presentable.
- Safeguarding company property and assets.
Loss Prevention and Security
The Permanent Part-Timer will help protect the store and its assets.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the sales floor.
- Identifying and reporting suspicious activity.
- Following security procedures.
- Supporting loss-prevention initiatives.
- Following SLAP and other relevant company procedures.
Training and Development
adidas provides employees with opportunities to develop their product knowledge and retail skills.
Successful candidates will be expected to participate in in-store and digital training, including platforms such as Atticus and AREA.
Employees will also become familiar with Power BI tools to better understand store performance, best-selling products and product gaps.
This training is designed to help employees become more confident in their roles and understand the wider performance of the store.
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Matric certificate.
- 0–1 years of retail experience.
- A genuine passion for retail and customer service.
- Clear and upbeat communication skills.
- The ability to take initiative.
- Flexibility to work during weekdays, evenings and weekends.
- The ability to adapt to different tasks and changing situations.
- Enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
- An interest in fashion.
- Confidence when assisting and styling customers.

Previous fashion retail experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.
