🎓 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum Grade 10 literacy level.
- Valid Code 14 driver’s licence.
- Valid PrDP (EC1).
- At least 3 years’ articulated driving experience.
- Experience driving both rigid vehicles and horse/trailer combinations.
- Must be medically fit.
- Must have a clean criminal record.
- Knowledge and experience in defensive driving.
- Experience with Eaton Fuller and ZF gearboxes.
- Knowledge of vehicle components and their functions.
- Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and vehicle operating requirements.
- Understanding of appropriate driver actions in different weather, road and traffic conditions.
- Knowledge of emergency and vehicle-defect reporting procedures.
- Ability to conduct vehicle inspections.
- Knowledge of how to operate a fire extinguisher.
- Understanding of vehicle loading techniques.
- Ability to maximise vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
🚚 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing heavy-duty vehicles for trips.
- Operating articulated heavy motor vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Handling transport documentation from dispatch to the customer and back to the distribution centre.
- Conducting vehicle inspections before and after each trip.
- Ensuring that the vehicle is roadworthy and ready for operation.
- Taking accountability for all goods being transported to customers.
- Ensuring goods are transported safely and efficiently.
- Following all company procedures and road safety requirements.
- Reporting emergencies, defects and other incidents according to the correct procedures.
- Following reasonable instructions from supervisors.
- Maintaining a safe driving record.
- Working shifts as required.
- Being available to work weekends and public holidays when required.

This position requires an experienced articulated vehicle driver who can operate heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently.
Applicants should be comfortable working under different road, weather and traffic conditions and understand the importance of vehicle inspections, safe loading, documentation and responsible handling of customer goods.
The role also requires flexibility because the successful candidate must be prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
