SanlamConnect East Coast is looking for a Sales Support Assistant (PG07) to join its team in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal.
The Sales Support Assistant is an administrative support role that reports directly to the Operations Manager in the region. The successful candidate will provide sales support and administration to Sanlam intermediaries and regional sales management, helping ensure that sales activities and new business processes are handled efficiently and accurately.
This role is suited to someone who is organised, client-focused and comfortable working in a financial services environment. Experience in financial services administration, broker support, advisor services or insurance products would be particularly advantageous.
SanlamConnect supports a large network of tied advisers and independent brokers who assist clients with financial solutions. The Sales Support Assistant plays an important role behind the scenes by ensuring intermediaries have the administrative, product and sales information they need to effectively serve clients.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Administrative Support
The Sales Support Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative assistance to Sanlam intermediaries and regional sales management.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing sales and administration support to intermediaries.
- Assisting with quotations.
- Helping intermediaries access relevant product information.
- Supporting the administrative requirements associated with sales activities.
- Ensuring information provided to intermediaries is accurate and relevant.
- Assisting with queries and requests from intermediaries.
New Business Processing
A key part of the position involves supporting the processing of new business.
The successful candidate will:
- Process new business submissions.
- Monitor new business applications and submissions.
- Follow up on outstanding information where required.
- Track progress of submitted business.
- Ensure relevant administration is completed accurately.
- Assist intermediaries with the progress of new business.
- Identify issues that may delay processing and escalate them where appropriate.
Sales Information and Reporting
The role also involves monitoring and reporting relevant sales information.
Duties include:
- Monitoring relevant sales information.
- Preparing and providing sales information to intermediaries.
- Reporting relevant information to management.
- Assisting with tracking sales activity.
- Supporting regional management with accurate administrative information.
- Ensuring that sales-related information is captured and maintained appropriately.
Technology Support
The Sales Support Assistant will also support initiatives aimed at increasing the use of technology among Sanlam intermediaries.
This may include:
- Supporting intermediaries with technology-related initiatives.
- Encouraging the adoption of relevant digital tools and systems.
- Assisting intermediaries with administrative technology processes.
- Helping ensure that technology is effectively used to support sales activities.
After-Sales Service
The successful candidate will provide limited after-sales service where required.
This includes assisting with relevant client or intermediary requests after business has been submitted and helping ensure that outstanding administrative matters are followed up appropriately.
Minimum Qualification
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification.
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
While a tertiary qualification is not listed as essential, applicants with additional relevant education may have an advantage.
Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 2 years’ relevant administrative experience within the financial services industry — preferred.
- Previous experience in a Broker or Advisor Services environment — preferred.
- Experience with insurance products — preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant quotation processes and systems — preferred.
This means the role is particularly well suited to candidates who have already worked in financial services administration, insurance administration, broker support or advisor support.
Candidates who understand how financial services businesses operate and are familiar with insurance quotations, products and related systems may be particularly well positioned for the opportunity.
