Job Overview
The Building Company is looking for a Cashier to join the BUCO Queenstown team on a permanent basis.
The main purpose of the role is to provide exceptional customer service at the point of sale while ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately, efficiently and courteously. The Cashier will play an important role in creating a positive customer experience while protecting the business against financial and operational risks.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the till, processing customer purchases and payments, issuing accurate receipts and ensuring that the till is properly balanced. Because the position involves direct interaction with customers, the ideal candidate should be friendly, helpful, polite and comfortable working in a busy retail environment.
The role requires someone who understands the importance of accuracy and accountability when dealing with cash and customer transactions. Every transaction must be handled according to the company’s procedures, with careful attention given to the security of receipts, cash and the contents of the till.
Candidates should have a Grade 12 qualification, basic computer skills and a good command of English. Applicants must also be willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Previous cashier experience is not listed as an absolute requirement, but 2–3 years of cashier experience will be an advantage. Similarly, previous knowledge of building materials and products would be beneficial because BUCO operates within the building materials retail sector.
