Fedics is looking for a Wardhostess to join its healthcare catering team in Johannesburg. This is an opportunity for a service-oriented individual who enjoys working with people and can provide professional, respectful and efficient meal services to patients in a busy hospital environment.
The Wardhostess will work individually on patient wards and will be responsible for serving breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks while ensuring that patients receive excellent service throughout their stay.
🔹 Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring patients have access to fresh ice water at all times.
- Maintaining beverage stations and ensuring tea and coffee facilities are ready for service.
- Serving patients tea, coffee, beverages, snacks and meals in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assisting patients with menu selections according to their preferences and dietary requirements.
- Ensuring menu cards are completed accurately and submitted to the kitchen on time.
- Maintaining and updating patient diet lists before each meal service.
- Communicating dietary changes, restrictions and special requests to the kitchen.
- Transporting food trolleys safely between the kitchen and patient wards.
- Checking meal trays to ensure that meals are complete and meet required quality standards.
- Serving meals according to hospital procedures.
- Collecting meal trays promptly after service.
- Keeping ward service areas clean, tidy and hygienic.
- Controlling and safely storing crockery, cutlery and serving equipment.
- Washing and sanitising service equipment according to food safety standards.
- Maintaining a clean and organised ward kitchen and service area.
- Following food safety, health and safety, infection control and hygiene procedures.
- Wearing the required uniform and PPE correctly.
- Providing patient-focused service that promotes comfort, dignity and a positive dining experience.
- Supporting special service requirements for private patients.
- Reporting patient-care, hygiene, equipment, stock or service concerns to the supervisor.
- Following all Tsebo Catering policies, procedures and quality standards.

🎓 Qualifications and Experience
Minimum requirement:
- Matric / Grade 12
Advantageous:
- Previous experience working in a hospital environment.
