📢 JOB OVERVIEW
Tiger Brands is looking for an Operator Basket Washer to join its bakery operations in Pretoria.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating industrial basket and tray washing equipment to ensure a continuous supply of clean, dry and suitable baskets for production and dispatch operations.
This role is suited to someone who is physically fit, pays close attention to detail and is comfortable working in a wet, noisy and fast-paced production environment.
🧺 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Loading, operating and unloading the automated basket/crate washing machine.
- Operating the washing equipment continuously during the shift to support production.
- Ensuring baskets are properly washed and dried before being stacked.
- Using air knives and fans to assist with drying baskets.
- Inspecting incoming baskets for damage and cleanliness.
- Separating broken or damaged baskets for repair or disposal.
- Identifying extremely dirty baskets that require manual pre-cleaning.
- Separating competitor or third-party crates from factory stock.
- Neatly stacking clean and dry baskets in designated areas.
- Ensuring baskets are readily available for production and dispatch teams.
- Maintaining good housekeeping around the washing station.
- Removing excess water and sweeping debris from the wash bay.
- Preventing and reporting slip hazards.
- Performing basic equipment pre-start checks.
- Cleaning filter screens and catch trays regularly.
- Reporting mechanical jams, equipment faults and other problems to the Maintenance team.
- Following all workplace safety and operational procedures.
💪 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires the ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the working shift.
Applicants must be comfortable with:
- Lifting baskets and crates.
- Bending and moving repeatedly.
- Stacking baskets to standard operational heights.
- Standing and working for extended periods.
- Working around water and wet surfaces.
- Working in a noisy and busy production environment.
