📢 JOB OVERVIEW
Premier FMCG is looking for a General Worker: Van Assistant to join the team at the Premier Durban Wheat Mill.
The successful candidate will assist with the safe and accurate loading and offloading of products and pallets from delivery vehicles to customers according to the planned delivery route.
This role is suitable for candidates who are physically fit, responsible and able to work in a fast-paced delivery environment. Applicants should have Matric and 2–3 years of experience in sales delivery. A Code 10 driver’s licence will be advantageous.
🎯 JOB PURPOSE
The main purpose of the position is to ensure that the correct quantities of products and pallets are loaded onto the vehicle and safely offloaded at customer locations according to the planned delivery schedule.
The Van Assistant will also support vehicle safety, hygiene, pallet collection and accurate product handling.
🛠️ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Checking company products against the loading sheet.
- Signing the loading documentation after verification.
- Ensuring the correct products and quantities are loaded.
- Adhering to standard vehicle departure times.
- Taking responsibility for vehicle safety and hygiene.
- Assisting with the collection of pallets.
- Safely offloading products at customer locations.
- Ensuring products are handled carefully during loading and delivery.
- Reporting any accidents immediately to the Transport Department and Warehouse Manager.
- Supporting the driver and delivery team during daily routes.
- Maintaining professional relationships with customers.
- Following company procedures and safety requirements.
- Performing other duties related to the delivery operation when required.
🎓 EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12.
- 2–3 years’ experience in sales delivery.
- Code 10 driver’s licence will be advantageous.
- Previous experience in FMCG, logistics or delivery environments will be beneficial.

🕐 WORKING CONDITIONS
Applicants must understand that this position requires flexibility and physical ability.
The successful candidate must:
- Be available to work extended hours when required.
- Be willing to work weekends and shifts.
- Be prepared to work a 6-day week, including Sundays and public holidays.
- Be comfortable working in environments with noise and warm temperatures.
- Be able to work in a pressurised and fast-paced environment.
- Have their own transportation to commute to work locations or travel when necessary.
- Be physically capable of assisting with loading and offloading products and pallets.
