📢 JOB OPPORTUNITY
Akals Midas, part of Motus Aftermarket Parts, is looking for a reliable and responsible Driver: Light Duty to join its team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
The main purpose of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of goods to and from customers, while making sure that all company procedures are followed correctly.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering parcels according to designated routes and schedules, completing the required documentation, maintaining the delivery vehicle and ensuring that customers follow the required Proof of Delivery (POD) procedures.
This is a permanent position and is suitable for an experienced delivery driver who is honest, dependable, safety-conscious and able to work under pressure.
🎓 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification.
- At least 3 years’ delivery driving experience.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) – essential.
- Good time-management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Must be honest and demonstrate integrity.
- Must have sober habits.
- Must have a clear criminal record.
- Ability to follow company procedures and instructions.
- Good customer-service skills will be advantageous.
🚚 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting the vehicle before departure and again when returning to the premises. Any vehicle errors or problems must be reported immediately before the vehicle is allowed to leave.
The driver must ensure that vehicle inspection lists are completed correctly and handed back to the Dispatch Supervisor every Monday for sign-off before receiving a new inspection list.
Before loading, the driver will check parcels together with the supervisor and ensure that the New Dispatch Loading Procedure is followed at all times.
Deliveries must be completed according to the designated customer route, route schedule and trip sheet. The driver must ensure that all parcels and documentation allocated to the trip are delivered correctly.
The driver must also ensure customer adherence to the Proof of Delivery (POD) procedure and comply with the RFC procedure.
All documents and collection slips allocated to the trip sheet must be delivered and the required POD must be obtained. Once the trip has been completed, the driver must sign the trip sheets in with the POD Clerk and ensure that all documents assigned to them are complete and returned the following day.
📋 ACCOUNTABILITY
Outstanding trip sheets will remain the driver’s responsibility, and the driver may be held liable for claims relating to No POD queries.
Drivers are also required to follow the company’s stock-control procedures. No stock transfers between customer shops are permitted.
The driver will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning the vehicle and must immediately report any vehicle problems to the Dispatch Supervisor.
Any problems experienced during deliveries, including issues relating to PODs, must be reported promptly to the Dispatch Supervisor.
