Job Overview
Medirite is looking for a versatile and customer-focused Beauty Therapist / Nail Technician to join the Medirite Plus Nailbar team in Mayville, Pretoria. This part-time opportunity is suited to a qualified beauty professional who has practical salon or nail bar experience and enjoys creating a welcoming, professional experience for every client.
The successful candidate will provide a range of nail and beauty services while maintaining high standards of hygiene, professionalism, customer care and service quality. The role includes performing manicures and pedicures, eyebrow threading and shaping, basic facial waxing and other beauty treatments within the candidate’s area of competence.
Beyond technical beauty skills, the position requires someone who can interact confidently with customers, understand their needs and recommend suitable services or beauty products. Building positive client relationships is an important part of the role, as excellent service can encourage repeat visits and customer loyalty.
The Beauty Therapist / Nail Technician will also contribute to the commercial performance of the Nailbar by responsibly promoting relevant nail and beauty products, as well as identifying appropriate opportunities for upselling and cross-selling during treatments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Beauty Services
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering professional beauty treatments according to established service standards. This includes:
- Performing professional manicures and pedicures.
- Providing basic nail care and related nail treatments.
- Performing eyebrow threading and shaping.
- Providing basic facial waxing services.
- Ensuring treatments are carried out safely, professionally and consistently.
- Following all applicable hygiene, sanitation, health and safety requirements.
- Ensuring equipment and treatment tools are properly cleaned and maintained.
Customer Experience
Customer service is central to this position. The successful candidate will:
- Welcome customers in a warm, friendly and professional manner.
- Create a positive and engaging experience throughout each appointment.
- Conduct basic consultations to understand clients’ needs and preferences.
- Recommend appropriate treatments or products based on customer requirements.
- Build professional relationships with clients.
- Encourage repeat visits by consistently delivering quality service.
Sales and Product Promotion
The Beauty Therapist / Nail Technician will also support the Nailbar and store’s sales objectives by:
- Recommending relevant nail and beauty products.
- Promoting products that are appropriate for individual client needs.
- Supporting responsible upselling and cross-selling during service delivery.
- Assisting with basic point-of-sale processes where required.
- Handling transactions accurately when required.
Operational Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a professional and organised working environment by:
- Keeping the Nailbar clean and client-ready.
- Cleaning and organising treatment areas after services.
- Maintaining treatment equipment and tools in an appropriate condition.
- Following operational procedures and company policies.
- Complying with trading requirements and retail standards.
- Maintaining appropriate hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following essential requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- A recognised Certificate or Diploma in Beauty Therapy, Somatology or Nail Technology, whether obtained locally or internationally.
- At least 1 year of practical experience in a salon, nail bar or similar professional beauty environment.
- Practical competency in manicures, pedicures and basic nail care.
- Competency in eyebrow threading and shaping and/or basic facial waxing.
- A sound understanding of hygiene, sanitation and health and safety standards.
- Good knowledge of nail and beauty products.
- Ability to recommend appropriate products according to client needs.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
Advantageous Experience
Experience working in a customer-facing, high-footfall retail environment will be advantageous, particularly for candidates who are comfortable working directly with a diverse range of customers.
