Job Overview
Rand Water is looking for a responsible and safety-conscious Driver to join its Bulk Water Services – Operations portfolio at the Zuikerbosch site in Three Rivers East, Vereeniging.
The main purpose of the position is to ensure that staff and equipment are transported safely to different destinations while ensuring that assigned vehicles remain clean, properly maintained, safe and roadworthy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting employees and equipment, completing vehicle inspections, identifying and reporting faults, maintaining transport schedules and ensuring that all driving and transport activities comply with applicable legal, road safety and occupational health and safety requirements.
This role requires an experienced driver who understands defensive driving, road traffic regulations and vehicle safety. The successful applicant must also be comfortable handling administrative responsibilities related to transport operations and working with different teams to ensure that transport requirements are met efficiently.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
- At least 3 years’ relevant driving experience.
- A valid Code EB driver’s licence.
- Ability to pass the Rand Water K53 driving test.
- Must be in possession of a valid Public Drivers Permit (PDP).
Candidates should have sufficient professional driving experience to safely transport staff and equipment and should demonstrate a strong understanding of responsible vehicle operation.
Main Purpose and Responsibilities
The Driver will support the operational requirements of the Bulk Water Services division by ensuring staff and equipment reach their required destinations safely and efficiently.
Transporting Staff and Equipment
The driver will be responsible for:
- Transporting staff to different destinations as required.
- Transporting equipment safely.
- Planning transport activities to ensure that vehicles and transport resources are available when required.
- Completing transport schedules within the Mechanical section.
- Ensuring that transport arrangements support operational requirements.
The driver must plan ahead and communicate effectively with relevant teams to ensure that transport requirements are met without unnecessary delays.
Vehicle Safety and Roadworthiness
Vehicle safety is a key responsibility of this position.
The successful candidate will:
- Keep assigned vehicles clean and roadworthy.
- Conduct daily inspections of motor vehicles.
- Identify and investigate vehicle faults.
- Report vehicle defects and faults through the appropriate channels.
- Support planned vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Ensure vehicles are operated safely and responsibly.
- Maintain the required standards for vehicle condition.

Legal and Safety Compliance
