Job Overview

Clicks Group is looking for four Shop Assistants / Cashiers to join the team at Clicks Kyalami Corner in Midrand. This permanent opportunity is suited to individuals who enjoy working with people, have a strong customer focus and are interested in developing their experience within the retail and FMCG environment.

The main purpose of the position is to deliver excellent customer service through efficient point-of-sale operations, accurate processing of transactions, merchandising and general store support. The successful candidates will play an important role in creating a positive shopping experience while ensuring that Clicks’ operational and customer service standards are consistently maintained.

The role involves working directly with customers, processing purchases and payments, handling cash responsibly, promoting Clicks ClubCard, communicating promotions and assisting with merchandising and housekeeping activities.

Key Responsibilities

Point-of-Sale Operations

The Shop Assistant / Cashier will be responsible for efficiently completing all activities at the point of sale. This includes scanning merchandise accurately, collecting customer payments and processing transactions according to company procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately scanning merchandise.
  • Processing customer purchases and payments.
  • Maintaining high levels of transaction accuracy.
  • Safely handling cash at all times.
  • Processing Clicks ClubCard rewards.
  • Following all point-of-sale procedures.
  • Ensuring customers receive efficient and professional service.
  • Following company procedures when handling transactions and customer information.

Customer Service

Customer service is a major part of the role. Employees will represent the Clicks brand and are expected to provide friendly, professional and helpful service to customers.

Duties include:

  • Welcoming and assisting customers.
  • Establishing positive relationships with customers.
  • Providing professional customer service.
  • Responding to customer needs and queries.
  • Promoting a positive shopping experience.
  • Acting as a visible and approachable brand ambassador.
  • Making customers aware of current promotions and offers.
  • Supporting the Clicks vision of being the customer’s first-choice health and beauty retailer.

Employees should maintain a strong customer focus and ensure that customers receive accurate and useful information throughout their interaction with the store.

Clicks ClubCard & Promotions

The successful candidates will also help increase ClubCard participation by actively promoting the programme to customers and assisting with new ClubCard registrations.

Employees should remain informed about current:

  • ClubCard opportunities.

This knowledge will allow employees to provide customers with accurate information and support sales within the store.

Merchandising & Housekeeping

The role also includes maintaining the appearance and organisation of the store.

Responsibilities include:

  • Completing merchandising activities efficiently.
  • Maintaining visual merchandising standards.
  • Ensuring products are presented appropriately.
  • Supporting stock management procedures.
  • Maintaining general housekeeping standards.
  • Keeping the store environment clean and organised.
  • Following Clicks store and merchandising standards.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Grade 12 / Matric is essential.

The following are desirable:

  • Mathematics at 50% at Grade 12 level.
  • English at 50% at Grade 12 level.

Experience

Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG store environment is desirable, but it is not listed as an essential requirement.

Candidates who have worked with customers, retail products, point-of-sale systems or store operations may have an advantage.
