Job Overview
Clicks Group is looking for 10 Shop Assistant Cashiers to join the team at Clicks Itonka Square in Kwa-Thema. This is a permanent retail opportunity suited to individuals who enjoy working with customers, have strong attention to detail, and can operate effectively in a busy store environment.
The successful candidates will contribute to delivering service excellence by efficiently managing point-of-sale activities, assisting customers, merchandising products, maintaining store standards, and ensuring that transactions are processed accurately.
As a Shop Assistant Cashier, you will be an important representative of the Clicks brand. You will interact directly with customers, provide friendly and professional service, assist with promotions and ClubCard enrolments, process payments, and ensure that customers have a positive shopping experience.
The role also involves supporting general store operations, including merchandising, housekeeping, stock-related activities, and maintaining a clean and organised retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Point-of-Sale Operations
- Efficiently execute all operational activities at the point of sale.
- Accurately scan merchandise and process customer purchases.
- Receive and process payments according to company procedures.
- Handle cash safely and responsibly at all times.
- Action Clicks ClubCard rewards correctly during transactions.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy when processing sales.
- Follow all point-of-sale procedures and company policies.
- Ensure that cash and other payment methods are handled securely.
Customer Service
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional assistance.
- Deliver excellent customer service throughout every interaction.
- Act as a positive ambassador for the Clicks brand.
- Assist customers with product-related queries where possible.
- Ensure customers receive accurate information about products and promotions.
- Make customers aware of relevant promotions and special offers.
- Encourage customers to join the Clicks ClubCard programme.
- Assist with enrolling new ClubCard members to support participation targets.
- Build positive relationships with customers through professional and helpful service.
Merchandising and Store Standards
- Maintain merchandising standards according to Clicks requirements.
- Ensure products are displayed neatly and correctly.
- Support promotional displays and ensure promotional information is visible.
- Assist with general housekeeping duties throughout the store.
- Maintain a clean, organised and customer-friendly shopping environment.
- Follow store and visual merchandising standards.
- Support stock management procedures when required.
- Ensure products and displays are maintained according to company expectations.
Product and Promotion Knowledge
Employees are expected to keep their knowledge of Clicks products, ranges, promotions and events up to date. This enables them to provide customers with correct and useful information and confidently communicate current promotions.
Understanding the products available in the store will also help employees respond to customer questions and contribute towards a positive shopping experience.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 is essential.
- Mathematics at 50% at Grade 12 level is desirable.
- English at 50% at Grade 12 level is desirable.
Experience
Previous experience in a customer-facing position within a retail or FMCG store environment is desirable, although it is not listed as an essential requirement.
Candidates should have an understanding of customer service and be comfortable working in a busy retail environment.
