Job Overview

An opportunity is available for a Checker II to join the Isanti Pallets operation in Roodekop, Gauteng. The successful candidate will support warehouse, stock control and dispatch activities while ensuring that goods and containers are correctly assembled, packed, unpacked, weighed, stacked, loaded, unloaded, marked and addressed.

The Checker II role is an intermediate-level position within quality control and inventory management. Compared with an entry-level checking position, the role carries greater responsibility for ensuring that stock, loading activities, documentation and warehouse processes are completed accurately and according to operational requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors and other warehouse personnel to maintain accurate stock records, support dispatch operations and ensure that goods are correctly handled throughout the loading and distribution process.

Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures are important qualities for this position. The successful applicant should also be comfortable working in a warehouse environment and using warehouse management systems.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control

The Checker II will assist with maintaining effective stock control within the operation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Checking goods and containers during warehouse activities.
  • Assisting with the assembling, packing and unpacking of goods.
  • Checking goods being weighed, stacked, loaded and unloaded.
  • Ensuring that goods are correctly marked or addressed.
  • Recording relevant stock information accurately.
  • Completing bin stock documentation.
  • Supporting accurate inventory records.
  • Identifying discrepancies and bringing them to the attention of the appropriate supervisor.
  • Ensuring stock is handled according to operational procedures.

The employee will need to maintain a high level of accuracy when checking stock and recording information.

Dispatch Operations

The role provides support to dispatch and loading activities, ensuring that vehicles and loads are properly prepared before leaving the facility.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting dispatch activities.
  • Conducting pre-loading inspections of vehicles.
  • Checking that vehicles are clean and suitable for loading.
  • Checking that slides are properly closed before loading.
  • Assisting with the loading of goods.
  • Ensuring loads are properly sealed.
  • Checking relevant loading information.
  • Supporting the correct movement of goods through the dispatch process.
  • Ensuring that required documentation is completed accurately.

The Checker II must pay close attention to loading procedures to help prevent errors, losses and incorrect deliveries.

Weighing & Legal Compliance

The position also involves activities related to the weighing of vehicles and loads.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist with weighing vehicles.
  • Check vehicle axle weights.
  • Ensure that axle weights comply with legal requirements.
  • Record relevant weighing information.
  • Report discrepancies or concerns to the supervisor.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and condition of the weighbridge area.

Accurate weighing and recording are important to ensure that vehicles are legally compliant before leaving the facility.

Warehouse Management Systems

Experience with warehouse management systems is a key requirement for this position.

The Checker II may be required to capture, check and update information electronically as part of warehouse and stock control processes. Candidates should therefore be comfortable working with systems and electronic records while maintaining accuracy.

The role includes system administration, record keeping and general administrative responsibilities associated with warehouse operations.

Record Keeping & Administration

Accurate documentation is an important part of the position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recording details of goods and containers.

  • Supporting general warehouse housekeeping.
  • Ensuring work areas remain safe and free from unnecessary obstructions.
  • Following instructions relating to workplace safety and operational standards.

Minimum Requirements

Education

The minimum educational requirement is:

  • Matric / Grade 12 / NQF Level 4

Experience & Knowledge
