The Storekeeper will play an important role in ensuring that catering and kitchen operations run smoothly by managing the receiving, storage, issuing and recording of stock. This position is well suited to someone who is organised, trustworthy and comfortable working with stock, documentation and physical inventory. Attention to detail is particularly important, as the role requires accurate checking of deliveries, stock counts, expiry dates, temperatures and stock records.
Key Responsibilities
The Storekeeper will be responsible for receiving and checking all deliveries that arrive at the catering operation. This includes verifying quantities, checking the quality and condition of products and comparing deliveries against the relevant delivery notes.
The successful candidate must accurately record all stock received and immediately report shortages, damaged products or other discrepancies to the appropriate person.

Other key duties include:
- Maintaining accurate daily stock records and stock sheets.

Skills & Competencies
The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of stock-control processes, including receiving, issuing, stock rotation and record keeping.
Applicants should be able to accurately complete documents such as stock sheets, delivery notes and requisition forms. Basic numeracy and strong attention to detail are important, particularly when counting stock and checking quantities against documentation.
An understanding of food safety, hygiene practices and HACCP principles will be beneficial. Candidates must also be physically capable of lifting, moving and handling stock safely.
The successful candidate should be:
- Reliable and honest.
- Organised and detail-oriented.

Experience within a catering, hospitality or food-service environment will be advantageous, as the role involves handling food products and maintaining storage areas according to hygiene and food-safety requirements.
A driver’s licence is also specified.
Working Environment
The Storekeeper will work within a catering environment and will regularly interact with kitchen and service teams. The role may involve working in dry-storage areas, refrigerators and freezers, meaning the successful candidate must be comfortable working in different storage conditions.
