Job Purpose
SPARK Schools is looking for Facilities Maintenance Staff (Inside) to help ensure that the school building and surrounding areas remain clean, safe, functional and well maintained.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining a professional and welcoming environment for scholars, staff, parents and visitors.
This position will involve general maintenance, cleaning, groundskeeping and operational support while assisting the school leadership team with facilities-related needs.
Key Responsibilities
The Facilities Maintenance Staff member will be responsible for:
- Maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of the school building, gardens and grounds.
- Reporting maintenance issues to school leadership.
- Assisting with repairs where applicable and within the scope of the role.
- Ensuring school premises remain safe for students, staff and parents.
- Assisting with welcoming students during daily arrivals and dismissals when required.
- Managing and caring for tools and equipment.
- Reporting damaged or missing tools and equipment to school leadership.
- Assisting with moving furniture and other ad-hoc operational requirements.
- Supporting maintenance and gardening suppliers when required.
- Assisting with preparing the school for events and activities.
- Communicating professionally with school staff, parents and other stakeholders.
- Participating in staff development and training opportunities.
- Representing SPARK Schools professionally at school events and when interacting with stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Grade 12 certificate – preferred.
- Previous experience in maintenance, cleaning or groundskeeping.
- Fluency in English.
- A Police Clearance Certificate.
- The ability to work professionally around students, staff and parents.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to manage tools and equipment responsibly.
- A willingness to assist with different operational tasks as required.
