📌 ABOUT THE POSITION
Fedics is looking for a Wardhostess to work individually on patient wards at Johannesburg Healthwise.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional and compassionate meal services to patients. This includes serving breakfast, lunch, supper, snacks and beverages, while ensuring that patients receive meals according to their dietary requirements and preferences.
The role requires someone who is patient-focused, reliable, professional and able to work in a busy, fast-paced healthcare environment.
🍽️ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Wardhostess will be responsible for:
- Ensuring patients have access to fresh ice water at all times.
- Maintaining beverage stations and ensuring tea and coffee urns are filled and operational.
- Serving patients tea, coffee, beverages, snacks and meals professionally.
- Assisting patients with menu selections.
- Ensuring menu cards are completed accurately according to patient preferences and dietary requirements.
- Submitting completed menu cards to the kitchen on time.
- Maintaining and updating patient diet lists before each meal service.
- Communicating dietary changes, restrictions and special requests to the kitchen.
- Transporting food trolleys safely between the kitchen and wards.
- Ensuring meals are delivered to patients on time.
- Checking meal trays for accuracy, completeness and quality before delivery.
- Serving meals according to hospital procedures.
- Collecting meal trays promptly after service.
- Keeping ward service areas clean, tidy and hygienic.
- Controlling crockery, cutlery and serving equipment.
- Washing and sanitising cutlery and service equipment according to food safety standards.
- Maintaining a clean and organised ward kitchen and service area.
- Following food safety, hygiene, infection control and health and safety procedures.
- Wearing the required uniform and PPE correctly.
- Providing excellent patient-focused service that promotes comfort and dignity.
- Supporting special service requirements for private patients.
- Reporting service, stock, equipment and hygiene concerns to the supervisor.
- Following all Tsebo policies, procedures and quality standards.

- Work in a busy environment throughout the shift.
🎓 MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Applicants must have:
- Matric / Grade 12.
Advantageous:
- Previous experience working in a hospital environment.
Experience in catering, hospitality, food service or customer service would also be beneficial.
