Job Overview
Unitrans is looking for a reliable and hardworking General Worker to join its Consumer Division at the Safripol Warehouse in Sasolburg. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring operational areas remain clean, organised, and safe for employees, visitors, vehicles, and heavy machinery. Daily duties include cleaning warehouses, workshops, loading zones, offices, storage areas, and ablution facilities while helping to reduce workplace hazards and support efficient operations.
This role is well suited to candidates with previous industrial, warehouse, agricultural, or logistics cleaning experience who are physically fit, safety-conscious, and comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
As a General Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Perform daily cleaning of warehouses, workshops, loading bays, offices, walkways, and ablution facilities.
- Remove dust, mud, debris, spills, and waste from operational areas.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the site.
- Clean around heavy machinery while following all safety procedures.
- Keep access routes, platforms, and work areas free from obstructions.
- Maintain cleanliness around fuel stations, wash bays, parking areas, and storage yards.
- Collect, sort, and dispose of waste according to company procedures.
- Empty bins, replace liners, and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Support recycling initiatives and proper disposal of contaminated materials.
- Report spills, hazards, damaged flooring, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Place appropriate warning signs during cleaning activities.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and store them correctly.
- Work closely with supervisors and operational teams to prioritise cleaning tasks.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and report faults when necessary.
- Complete housekeeping checklists and assist during compliance inspections.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Grade 10–12 (Grade 12 preferred).
- Basic cleaning or safety training is advantageous.
- 1–2 years’ experience in industrial, warehouse, logistics, or agricultural cleaning.
- Experience working around heavy equipment is beneficial.
- Knowledge of industrial housekeeping procedures.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and waste handling.
