Job Overview
Transnet Corporate Centre is inviting applications from suitably qualified University of Technology students for its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Technical Learner Programme. The programme will be hosted in Johannesburg and Durban and will run for 12 months.
The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme is designed to provide students with practical workplace experience, enabling them to apply the knowledge gained during their studies in a real working environment. Successful learners will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to industry-related projects while working alongside experienced professionals.
This programme is ideal for students who have completed the theoretical component of their qualification and require Work Integrated Learning (In-Service Training) to graduate.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate
- Completed S4–S5 theoretical coursework at a University of Technology in one of the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- South African citizen
- Between 18 and 35 years of age
- In-Service Training (WIL) letter from the institution
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Certified copy of Matric Certificate
- Full academic record
- No bursary obligation with another company

Key Responsibilities
The successful learner will:
Operational Support
- Assist with departmental projects and technical work assignments
- Perform routine operational duties under supervision
- Support administrative tasks, documentation, and reporting
Learning and Development
- Participate in workplace training programmes
- Attend workshops and mentorship sessions
- Shadow experienced engineers and technical professionals
- Apply theoretical engineering knowledge in practical workplace situations
Communication and Collaboration
