Job Overview
A full-time opportunity is available for an experienced Code 14 Driver to join a company operating within the manufacturing and mining sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation of materials and equipment while ensuring compliance with road traffic legislation, occupational health and safety regulations, and company policies.
This role requires a professional driver who is safety-conscious, reliable, and experienced in operating heavy-duty vehicles. The successful applicant will also be responsible for daily vehicle inspections, reporting defects, and ensuring loads are transported safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Safely transporting various materials and equipment.
- Taking full responsibility for the allocated vehicle and its load.
- Conducting daily pre-trip vehicle inspections.
- Reporting vehicle faults or mechanical defects immediately.
- Loading and off-loading materials and equipment safely.
- Ensuring compliance with the Road Traffic Act at all times.
- Protecting the safety of other road users through responsible driving.
- Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Following all company policies and operational procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of professionalism while representing the company.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- A valid, unendorsed Code 14 (EC) driver’s licence.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- At least 5 years of Code 14 driving experience.
- Experience driving heavy vehicles with manual gearboxes.
- Practical, hands-on experience operating heavy vehicles.
Advantageous Experience
The following will be beneficial:
- Experience operating a Mounted Grab Crane.
- Skip Truck operating experience.
- RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) vehicle experience.
- Experience reversing a draw-bar trailer.
