The Durban Rice Plant is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for three (3) Stacker positions within its Packing Department. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who have experience in a production or warehouse environment and are committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. Successful candidates will work as part of the production team to ensure finished products are stacked, inspected, and prepared according to company standards while maintaining compliance with food safety regulations.
Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that products are stacked accurately and safely according to pallet specifications while maintaining quality standards throughout the packing process. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring products are ready for storage and distribution without compromising food safety or product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties:
- Inspect pallets before stacking products.
- Use the correct pallet size for packing operations.
- Ensure pallets are covered with pallet sheet covers.
- Stack products neatly according to the approved pallet configuration.
- Verify that the correct number of packets is packed in each bale.
- Apply the correct barcode labels to the relevant products.
- Inspect products for any defects, damages, or quality concerns.
- Check that date codes are correct before products leave the packing line.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the work area.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times.
- Follow all food safety policies and procedures.
- Report food safety or quality non-conformances to the Production Supervisor.
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety regulations.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Work effectively with other team members to achieve production targets.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification.
- A similar relevant qualification will be an added advantage.
- At least 12 months’ experience in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, or packing environment.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards.
- Understanding of food safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Ability to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling duties.
