Purpose of the Position
The main purpose of this role is to support the overall management of the store by ensuring that retail operations, customer service, stock control, and administrative functions are performed efficiently. The Retail Store Assistant will help maintain high service standards while supporting the store team in achieving operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the daily management of store operations.
- Handling customer compliments and complaints professionally.
- Building and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Assisting customers with enquiries and directing them to the correct departments.
- Resolving customer stock queries.
- Managing refunds and returned goods.
- Handling cash floats, shortages, and overs at the point of sale.
- Verifying deliveries and invoices for accuracy.
- Assisting the Receiving Manager with Distribution Centre claims.
- Managing and controlling high-risk stock.
- Preparing daily cash reconciliation reports.
- Ordering and receiving branch change requirements for cashiers.
- Maintaining accurate document control, including petty cash and cash on hand.
- Ensuring effective communication between departments.
- Supporting efficient store administration and operational processes.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
- Previous retail experience.
- South African citizenship.
- Clear criminal and credit record.
- Valid driver’s licence and/or reliable transport.
