Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is inviting applications from unemployed South African graduates and TVET College students for its Hospitality Internship Programme. This exciting 18-month internship is designed to provide practical workplace experience, industry exposure, and on-the-job training to young people who have completed the theoretical component of their Hospitality qualification.
The programme is aimed at unemployed South African youth between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have no prior work experience in their field of study. Successful candidates will be placed at Kilner Park and will receive valuable workplace exposure under the guidance of experienced professionals, helping them develop the skills and knowledge required to build successful careers in the hospitality industry.

Purpose of the Internship
The internship aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the workplace by providing practical training to Hospitality students and graduates. Participants will gain hands-on experience while learning how the hospitality function operates within one of South Africa’s leading state-owned enterprises. The programme is intended to improve employability through structured workplace learning, mentorship, and professional development.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Have completed the theoretical component of a Hospitality qualification at a registered TVET College.
- Have no prior work experience in the relevant field.
- Have no bursary obligations.
- Be available to complete the full 18-month internship programme.

- Certified copy of Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Certified copy of Hospitality qualification or Statement of Results.
- Stamped letter from the institution requesting In-Service Training.
