Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this position is to provide safe, efficient, and confidential delivery of prescription medicines and healthcare products. The Driver will ensure that medication reaches customers and healthcare facilities on time while maintaining the highest standards of customer service, professionalism, and compliance with pharmacy procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Delivering prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medication to homes, clinics, hospitals, and retirement facilities.
- Prioritising urgent deliveries.
- Transporting temperature-sensitive medication using the correct cooling equipment.
- Ensuring refrigerated products are packed with ice packs where required.
- Loading the delivery vehicle carefully to prevent damage to parcels.
- Obtaining customer signatures as proof of delivery.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Communicating professionally with customers and healthcare professionals.
- Reporting customer concerns to the Dispensary Manager.
- Returning undelivered or rejected medication with the correct documentation.
- Keeping the delivery vehicle clean and roadworthy.
- Completing delivery check sheets accurately.
- Verifying parcel quantities before departure.
- Completing all allocated duties efficiently and on time.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate).
- At least 2 years’ delivery or courier driving experience.
- A valid Code 08 or Code 10 driver’s licence.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- A clean driving record with no traffic violations.
- Willingness to work shifts according to operational requirements.
