The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for 20 Cleaner positions at Weskoppies Hospital. Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 10 qualification.
- Ability to read and write.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Good physical health and fitness to perform manual cleaning duties.
- Willingness to rotate between wards and departments when required.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Honest, reliable, and responsible work ethic.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Added Advantage:
- One year or more cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Cleaning floors, walls, windows, doors, furniture, lockers, beds, curtains, and blinds.
- Cleaning hospital corridors, entrances, and outdoor areas.
- Removing and disposing of waste according to hospital waste management procedures.
- Cleaning staff and Mental Health Care User (MHCU) refrigerators, microwaves, kitchens, and designated equipment.
- Washing dishes, cups, and utensils in hospital wards.
- Using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
- Cleaning spills immediately to prevent accidents.
- Replenishing consumables such as hand soap, toilet paper, air fresheners, and deodoriser blocks.
- Collecting patient meals and preparing tea according to hospital schedules.
- Receiving and packing clean linen in designated storage rooms.
- Completing daily cleaning checklists and attendance registers.
- Reporting maintenance problems, hazards, and shortages to supervisors.
- Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe hospital environment.
- Performing any other lawful duties assigned by supervisors.
