Job Purpose
The Maintenance Assistant will help ensure that the school buildings, sports facilities, and grounds are well maintained, safe, and in excellent condition. The successful candidate will assist with maintenance tasks, prepare sports fields, transport equipment, and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the school.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the preparation and marking of sports fields and school grounds.
- Performing routine maintenance and repair work across the school.
- Carrying out basic plumbing, painting, and general repair duties.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of school facilities.
- Transporting materials, equipment, and occasionally staff or learners when required.
- Supporting sports coaching and supervising sports activities where necessary.
- Following health and safety procedures at all times.
- Performing any additional duties assigned by school management.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in general maintenance and repair work.
- Experience with basic plumbing, painting, and groundskeeping.
- A valid South African driver’s licence.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) or willingness to obtain one after appointment.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
