Job Purpose
The Frontshop Controller is responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the front shop by delivering excellent customer service, processing transactions accurately, maintaining attractive product displays, and assisting customers with their shopping needs. The successful candidate will also help maintain store standards and support overall retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Process customer payments accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Balance daily sales and receipts according to company procedures.
- Handle customer refunds and payment transactions.
- Restock shelves and organise merchandise according to company standards.
- Maintain attractive visual merchandising displays.
- Conduct regular price checks and correct pricing discrepancies.
- Keep up to date with new products, promotions, and special offers.
- Recommend suitable products based on customer needs.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe shopping environment.
- Handle customer queries efficiently and escalate complex issues to management when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- At least 5 months of point-of-sale (POS) or till experience in a retail environment.
- Previous retail sales experience, including working on the sales floor and cash counter.
- Basic computer literacy.
Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of retail sales and merchandising standards.
- Understanding of stock receiving procedures.
- Knowledge of payment methods, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Friendly, engaging, and professional attitude.
Advantageous
- Ability to communicate in both Afrikaans and English.
