The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that customer deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining company vehicles in excellent condition. The role also involves supervising loading activities, inspecting vehicles before each trip, preventing product damage during transportation, handling delivery documentation, collecting cash-on-delivery (COD) payments where applicable, and providing excellent customer service.

This position requires someone who can work independently, communicate professionally with customers, and represent the company positively during every delivery.

Key Responsibilities

As a 3500kg Driver, your duties will include:

  • Deliver building materials and other products safely and efficiently to customers.
  • Ensure all goods are loaded securely and neatly before leaving the branch.
  • Prevent damages, losses, and breakages during transportation.
  • Supervise and assist with loading and unloading of deliveries.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspection checks before and after every trip.
  • Report any mechanical faults, defects, or maintenance issues immediately.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and roadworthiness of the assigned vehicle.
  • Ensure customers receive the correct products and quantities as indicated on delivery documentation.
  • Complete delivery schedules within agreed timeframes.
  • Obtain customer signatures and authorisations on delivery notes.
  • Collect Cash-on-Delivery (COD) payments where required and follow company cash-handling procedures.
  • Provide professional and friendly customer service during every delivery.
  • Promote and uphold The Building Company’s values, culture, and professional standards.
  • Help minimise unnecessary vehicle operating costs through responsible driving and vehicle care.
  • Follow all company safety policies, road traffic regulations, and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A valid licence suitable for operating a 3500kg delivery vehicle.
  • Good knowledge of road safety regulations.
  • Previous delivery driving experience will be advantageous.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly.
