Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF qualification.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Experience in food retail or a customer service environment is advantageous.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and cold chain management.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities
As a Customer Assistant, your duties will include:
- Deliver excellent customer service by greeting customers and assisting with enquiries.
- Recommend suitable products, promotions, and alternatives when products are unavailable.
- Replenish shelves and ensure products are neatly displayed.
- Rotate stock correctly to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and cold chain management procedures.
- Monitor product quality and remove damaged or expired products.
- Process returns and report quality issues where necessary.
- Operate tills and process customer transactions accurately when required.
- Maintain department cleanliness and merchandising standards.
- Follow planograms, shelf layouts, and shopkeeping procedures.
- Minimise stock losses by following shrinkage prevention procedures.
- Report suspicious activity or dishonest behaviour according to company policies.
- Build product knowledge to confidently assist customers and promote new products.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute positively to store operations.
- Maintain Woolworths’ high standards of professionalism, grooming, and customer service.
