Job Overview

Nedbank is recruiting a Service Consultant to join its branch in Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is ideal for individuals with banking or customer service experience who are passionate about helping clients while promoting digital banking solutions.

As a Service Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service by assisting clients with banking transactions, cash handling, digital banking support, and self-service devices. You will educate customers on using Nedbank’s online banking platforms, mobile applications, and self-service kiosks while ensuring that branch operations run smoothly and efficiently.

The successful candidate will also perform teller duties, process cash transactions, assist with ATM balancing and replenishment, maintain branch security procedures, and identify opportunities to refer customers for additional banking products and services. This position requires someone who is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work accurately in a fast-paced banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

  • Welcome and assist clients with their banking needs.
  • Educate customers on Nedbank’s digital and self-service banking solutions.
  • Help clients download and use banking applications.
  • Assist with login issues and digital banking enquiries.
  • Process cash deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and other teller transactions.
  • Handle foreign exchange requests in accordance with company procedures.
  • Balance and replenish ATMs and other self-service devices.
  • Perform first-line maintenance on banking devices.
  • Assist clients with statements, bank cards, and other documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and refer customers to the appropriate departments.
  • Monitor branch queues and assist customers with special needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete daily operational documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with banking policies, security procedures, and risk controls.
  • Prevent fraud by following customer verification and transaction authentication procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • 1–2 years of experience in banking, customer service, cash handling, or first-line problem resolution.
  • Good understanding of customer service principles.
  • Basic knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Computer literacy and confidence using digital systems.

Advantageous Qualifications

  • Higher Certificate in Banking Services (NQF Level 5) or a similar banking qualification.
  • Foreign exchange (Forex) experience.
