About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting and escorting patients safely throughout the hospital while assisting with the movement of equipment, documentation, and other hospital resources. This role requires someone who is reliable, physically fit, and committed to delivering excellent patient service.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Safely transporting and escorting patients between hospital departments.
- Moving medical equipment, files, and related items.
- Assisting during emergency evacuations when required.
- Performing driving duties as requested and in accordance with hospital guidelines.
- Protecting patient confidentiality and respecting patient rights.
- Supporting hospital staff to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Maintaining professional conduct when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 10.
Experience Required
Essential
- Experience in customer service or dealing with members of the public.
Advantageous
- Previous healthcare experience, such as care work or hospital support services.
Required Skills and Knowledge
Successful applicants should possess:
- Valid driver’s licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Good English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Knowledge of patient rights.
- Understanding of safe patient handling techniques.
- Awareness of medico-legal responsibilities.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Knowledge of two-way radio communication systems.
- Basic administrative skills.
- Understanding of emergency evacuation procedures.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
