Job Overview
Standard Bank is inviting applications for its Internal Auditing Learnership Programme, a structured 24-month development programme aimed at helping young South Africans build a career in internal auditing. The programme combines formal training with practical workplace experience, allowing learners to gain valuable industry exposure while working towards a nationally recognised Occupational Certificate: Internal Auditor.
This opportunity is designed for graduates who want to develop practical auditing, risk management, compliance, finance, and business analysis skills within one of Africa’s leading financial institutions. Participants will work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to real business operations, and develop the technical and professional competencies needed for a successful career in internal audit.
Successful learners will receive a monthly stipend of R15,000, Student Medical Aid, structured mentorship, and hands-on workplace training throughout the programme.
Key Responsibilities
During the learnership, successful candidates will gain practical experience by:
- Planning audit activities under supervision.
- Conducting audit procedures and testing business processes.
- Analysing departmental operations to evaluate compliance with business standards and internal controls.
- Identifying control weaknesses and opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen business processes.
- Preparing audit working papers and maintaining supporting documentation.
- Collecting evidence to support audit findings and recommendations.
- Ensuring compliance with Standard Bank policies, procedures, and governance standards.
- Managing workloads effectively while meeting deadlines.
- Working collaboratively with different business units and audit teams.
- Developing analytical, reporting, and professional communication skills.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be under 30 years of age.
- Be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Not currently be studying at any institution.
- Not be registered on another internship or learnership programme.
Applicants must also hold an undergraduate qualification in one of the following (or a related field):
