Job Overview
South African Airways Technical (SAAT) is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Waste Truck Driver to join its Operations team based in Kempton Park, Gauteng. In addition to general refuse removal, the driver will also support the company’s sustainability initiatives by collecting recyclable materials such as paper and cardboard for recycling.
This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic workplace while helping reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill sites. The successful applicant will also be responsible for the general upkeep of the allocated waste truck, ensuring it remains clean, roadworthy, licensed, and serviced according to company requirements.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Collecting refuse from SAAT and SAA operational facilities.
- Transporting waste safely to designated landfill sites.
- Collecting paper, cardboard, and other approved recyclable materials.
- Supporting the company’s recycling and sustainability initiatives.
- Ensuring waste collection is completed according to operational schedules.
- Operating the waste truck safely and responsibly.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and roadworthiness of the allocated vehicle.
- Ensuring vehicle licensing and servicing requirements are always up to date.
- Reporting accidents, incidents, breakdowns, or vehicle defects promptly.
- Following all environmental, health, safety, and company procedures.
- Complying with road traffic legislation and safe driving practices.
- Completing any additional reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent (NQF Level 4).
- Valid Code C Driver’s Licence.
- Valid Public Driving Permit (PDP).
- Minimum 6 months’ relevant driving experience.
- Ability to operate waste collection vehicles safely.
- Good understanding of road safety regulations.
