About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of grilled menu items while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and safety.
You will work as part of a kitchen team in a fast-paced restaurant environment, ensuring meals are prepared efficiently and according to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Preparing steaks, burgers, ribs, and other grilled menu items.
- Cooking meat to the correct temperature and customer preference.
- Monitoring cooking times to ensure consistency and quality.
- Portioning and preparing meat according to standard operating procedures.
- Maintaining grill equipment and keeping workstations clean and safe.
- Completing opening and closing duties for the grill section.
- Following all food hygiene and food safety regulations.
- Rotating stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Reducing food waste through proper preparation and storage.
- Working efficiently during busy service periods.
- Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation.
- Maintaining excellent food presentation and quality standards.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Previous experience working as a Griller.
- Good English communication skills.
- Residence within 40 km of Waterkloof Glen.
- Clear criminal record.
Preferred Qualifications
Although not compulsory, preference may be given to candidates who:
- Are South African citizens.
- Are between the ages of 25 and 50 years.
- Have experience in casual or fine dining restaurants.
