About the Position

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting a Security Guard to join its team in Midrand, Gauteng. This role is responsible for providing professional security services in accordance with the Private Security Industry Regulation Act 56 of 2001, ensuring the safety of employees, customers, company assets, and property.

The successful candidate will maintain a secure environment by preventing criminal activities, monitoring access to the premises, conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, and ensuring that all security procedures are followed. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting regular patrols to monitor the premises.
  • Maintaining a visible security presence to deter criminal activity.
  • Monitoring and controlling access to the premises.
  • Checking vehicles, visitors, suppliers, and staff entering or leaving the site.
  • Performing personnel searches in accordance with company procedures.
  • Protecting company assets, property, staff, and customers.
  • Investigating suspicious activities and reporting incidents immediately.
  • Completing occurrence books, security registers, and incident reports accurately.
  • Monitoring CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and emergency equipment.
  • Responding effectively to emergencies such as theft, fire, medical incidents, or security breaches.
  • Assisting with opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensuring all doors, windows, and access points are secured.
  • Supervising refuse removal and declared goods.
  • Reporting any damage, unlawful entry, or suspicious behaviour.
  • Working closely with management and law enforcement when required.
  • Maintaining excellent customer service while enforcing security procedures.
  • Assisting during evacuations and emergency situations.
  • Enforcing company rules and maintaining order on the premises.
  • Performing additional security duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
  • Grade C PSIRA Accreditation.
  • Current PSIRA Registration.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the retail security environment, such as shopping malls or warehouses.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of security procedures and relevant legislation.

Advantageous Requirements

The following will be beneficial:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar security role.
  • Fire emergency and Health & Safety training.
  • Ability to speak a third South African language.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • PDP (if deployed as a driver).
