The King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality has opened applications for 220 Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) General Worker vacancies. These opportunities are available to unemployed residents living within the municipality and offer 12-month employment contracts across the Technical Services and Community Services departments.
In addition, the municipality is recruiting 20 EPWP Traffic Services Officers for applicants with the required traffic qualifications.
This recruitment drive aims to create temporary employment opportunities while improving essential municipal services across the KSD municipal area, including Mthatha and Mqanduli.

Employment Details

EPWP General Workers – Technical Services (110 Posts)
The Technical Services Department is looking for hardworking individuals who are physically fit and willing to assist with municipal infrastructure maintenance projects.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be between 18 and 59 years old
- Be a resident within the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality
- Be physically and mentally fit
- Be willing to perform physically demanding work
- Be able to use basic hand tools
- Be able to work inside a 600 mm stormwater pipe
- Be comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful applicants will:
- Receive work instructions from supervisors
- Clean work areas before projects begin
- Dig and refill trenches
- Load and unload construction materials
- Assist with stock handling
- Perform general cleaning duties
- Clean and store equipment after use
- Carry out other duties within the Technical Services Department
EPWP General Workers – Community Services (110 Posts)
The Community Services Department is seeking energetic individuals to assist with environmental maintenance, public spaces, refuse collection and municipal cleaning services.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be between 18 and 59 years old
- Be physically fit
- Be willing to perform manual labour
- Be able to operate hand tools
- Be comfortable working at heights
- Reside within King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Maintain parks and public open spaces
- Clean coastal and municipal areas
- Operate lawn mowers, trimmers, slashers and other equipment
- Perform gardening and landscaping duties
- Collect litter from public areas
- Assist with refuse collection
- Perform additional Community Services duties as assigned
EPWP Traffic Services (20 Posts)
The Public Safety Department is recruiting qualified Traffic Officers to assist with traffic management and law enforcement within the municipality.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12
- Traffic Safety and Municipal Police Certificate
- Traffic Diploma (NQF Level 5) will be an added advantage
- Valid Code B driver’s licence or higher
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Registration as a Traffic Officer
- Be between 18 and 59 years old
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Control traffic flow
- Promote road safety
- Patrol municipal areas
- Enforce traffic laws and municipal by-laws
- Respond to traffic incidents
- Conduct vehicle inspections
- Complete reports and administrative duties
